They all have their pros and cons, and what you buy is based upon what you’re actually looking for in a bread.

If you want gluten free bread that does not have to be frozen, and is ready to go at a moments notice, may I suggest you look into Udi’s. They likewise have bagels that are so delicious it restored my hope in unfrozen gluten free products. Up until that point, I had a rigorous faith that any unfrozen gluten free bread was basically a brick that a company packaged and tried to pass off as something edible. You may find it effortlessly at Whole Foods or Wegmans. Schar brand is also unfrozen, but is not entirely cooked. It needs to be placed in an oven – commonly no longer than 10 minutes. They also have ciabatta rolls, long rolls, dinner rolls, and hamburger rolls. All of which I have tried, and all of which I have in truth enjoyed! Schar is also effortlessly found in Wegmans.

If frozen bread is more your style, then the Grainless Baker Brand or Rudi’s is the way to go. The bonus to using frozen gluten free bread is that it may stay in your freezer for rather numerous time and still come out tasting gorgeous darn good. Both the Grainless Baker and Rudis have multiple kinds of bread, including Raisin Cinnamon and Muli-Grain. Again, Wegmans and Whole Foods carry these brands. However, Costco has a great price on a double pack of Rudi’s. Here’s a quick run down of the two; even though both brands are good, in my opinion, Rudi’s just edges out the Grainless Baker. It is more or less larger in size – size does matter…for a sandwich anyway. Also, the texture in Rudi’s seems to be more or less more authentic as well.

In the end, do not fret my Celiac comrades. There are galore gluten free options. I am here to support you navigate through those inedible landmines to the sweet taste of gluten free success!

I’ve had a lot of GF bread-like products, but this one takes the cake (har, har). These bagels are the closest thing I’ve ever had to an actual gluten-filled bagel. I even checked the package again after my first bite, just to make sure it was in fact GF.

There is not that glossy hard sheen you get from boiling a regular bagel — they’re more like a roll or almost a croissant on the outside than a bagel, but it does not detract at all.

These are fluffy, hold up to microwave or toaster oven, and are (unlike many GF products) sufficiently delicious that you could eat them completely plain if you were inclined. No need to disguise the flavor in any way. I don’t know that I could eat an entire case of them, as offered here, but I would not object to trying… :)

4The best GF bagel – but don’t expect too much

First of all, I would NOT by these on amazon if there is a Trader Joe’s near you. I want to say they cost maybe $6 a bag there? Definitely don’t need a case and don’t need to pay these outrageous prices.

The bagels are not bad if you toast them REALLY well so that the insides get a bit more crunchy. The insides tend to be a bit doughy- for lack of a better term.

Here is a tip: use these for pizza bagels instead of buying overpriced frozen GF pizza. These taste MUCH better and will save you $$$! Just slap on some pizza sauce (or use tomato paste from a can and season it with garlic salt and pepper and dried italian herbs), shredded cheese, pepperoni, whatever toppings you like! Heat in an oven 375 degrees until brown. I can’t even tell they are on a GF bagel when I eat them like that. You can also use these for tuna melts or any other hot sandwich. Try them in a panini press and make your own steak and cheese sandwiches! Yum!

5I Get to Eat Bagels Again!

Wow – Udi’s has nailed it once again with some awesome bagels. The texture and taste are just like “regular” breads. If they’re frozen, I recommend thawing briefly in the microwave (only long enough to pull the top and bottom apart) and then putting them in the toaster. I tried warming them completely in the microwave one morning and ended up with a very hard, chewy bagel. My only complaint is that it’s alot to spend on 4 bagels (or 4 breakfasts) when I can spend the same amount for a whole loaf of Udi’s bread. Granted, the bagels are rather large.
